2. Configuring additional scan items |
|
*N.B. Additional scan items cannot be configured on a Pocket Matcher. To create, edit or remove additional items from a procedure, first go to Settings > Processes and open the desired procedure from the list on the left side of the screen.
Once the procedure has been opened, locate the Additional items field:
There are two barcoded items that are expected to be scanned as part of this procedure (the dish and the NUNC 4 Well Dish). The additional items field is set to ‘0’, so any additional barcodes scanned after this will result in a ‘Too Many Barcodes’ match result.
Users can change the Additional items field to any number, for example ‘2’:
The user should click save to update any changes to the procedure.
The system will ask for the dish and NUNC 4 Well Dish to be scanned when this procedure is witnessed, however after the Match result has been displayed, the system will now let the user scan two additional barcodes, if required.

2. Witnessing additional scan items |
|
| Desktop application | Pocket Matcher application |
|
If additional items are enabled for a procedure, the desktop application will display this on the witnessing screen as follows:
‘0/2’ indicates that the system is ready to capture a minimum of 2 barcode images, but has currently captured 0.
‘7’ indicates that up to 7 barcode images can be captured for this witness step.
This means that 2 barcoded items need to be scanned as a minimum, however 5 additional items can be scanned as part of this procedure if required.
A witness result will display after the minimum number of items have been scanned, however the user can record additional items for that procedure up to the maximum number.
If no additional items need to be recorded, the user can just click continue at the bottom of the witness result screen to proceed.
|
If additional items are enabled for a procedure, the Pocket Matcher application will display these on the witnessing screen in two parts:
The top of the screen will display the scan item number that is due to be scanned:
‘1/2’ indicates that the system needs to capture a minimum of 2 barcode images for this procedure, and is waiting for item 1 to be scanned.
‘7’ indicates that up to 7 barcode images can be captured for this witness step.
The bottom of the screen confirms how many items have already been scanned:
0 barcodes have been captured, 2 barcodes need to be scanned as a minimum for this procedure, and up to a maximum of 7 barcodes can be captured.
This means that 5 additional items can be scanned as part of this procedure if required.
The ‘complete procedure’ arrow will only illuminate once the minimum number of scan items have been recorded:
The user can then either press the Scan button to record an additional barcode, or press the blue arrow to complete the procedure and obtain a witness result:
